“Welcome to Belize!”
In November of 2016, Norwegian Cruise Line guests were the first to hear these words on the island of Harvest Caye in Southern Belize.
Harvest Caye isn’t just another Caribbean island, it’s a fully immersive experience. Designed to showcase all that Belize is known for the island is filled with native plants and trees that play a part in the eco-system, and indigenous hardwoods are used in local buildings to keep that authenticity. Of course, the experience topped off with the warm and welcoming Belizean team members who greet you upon arrival.
This 75-acre oasis features a pool with a swim-up bar, salt-water lagoon for water sports, private 7-acre white powder sand beach and oceanside cabanas with concierge service.
“Harvest Caye is truly the ultimate Belizean experience…”
said Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
“We have worked closely with the government of Belize to ensure that that this spectacular destination was authentic for our guests, provided economic opportunities for the local community and preserved and protected Belize’s incredible natural beauty. We’re overjoyed with the results of this four year development project, and we look forward to seeing Harvest Caye and Southern Belize grow as we delight the many guests that will call on the destination.”
When you’re done enjoying the pristine beaches, you can get a better look at the island from atop the 130 foot Flighthouse. Overlooking the island, you can join a zip line excursion across the island, test your adrenaline on suspension bridges or with free fall jumps.
Of course no island would be complete without a shopping village that includes locally made chocolates, spirits, the area’s signature wood carvings and more. Enhancing the experience will be street carts featuring local Belizean favorites including ice cream, grilled skewers and artisan crafts. As you stroll through the shopping village you’ll also enjoy performances from local musicians and folk dancers.
If you’re stomach isn’t up for new cuisine after a day of sun and fun, don’t worry this resort style island has you covered with plenty of dining options: Laughing Bird Bar & Grill serving the beach, the Manatee Marina Bar & Grill in the marina, the Horse-Eye Jack Bar & Grill servicing the island’s cabanas as well as food and drink delivery throughout the pool area.
No matter what you’re looking for in a tropical getaway, this new island is ready to serve it up! Be one of the first to discover it’s beauty.
